The town itself is quaint and has a small downtown with a country store, farmer’s market, liquor store, Infinity Music Hall, and a few shops and restaurants, which is about a fifteen minute walk from the house or five minute drive. The town also hosts a Yale summer music residency program, which offers lots of free concerts during the summer (also walkable from the house).
Norfolk also has large swaths of conservation land and offers ample hiking, including a trail head about a five minute walk from the house, along with Haystack Mountain State Park, Campbell Fall State Park, and Dennis Hill State Park, all within a ten minute drive. And lots of farms within a short drive, and other outdoor opportunities including boating.
There are larger groceries, liquor stores, restaurants and pharmacies within a 10-15 minute drive, for example in Winsted, CT.
