Boone is a short 15-20 minute drive, and Blowing Rock is a 30 minute drive both of which provide excellent dining, shopping, and antiquing. Other local activities include golf, cave exploration, whitewater rafting, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, ASU football, hunting, mountain biking, tubing, gem mines, and downhill skiing.
