You’ll love this spacious beach cottage with the charm of yesteryear. The house has 4 bedrooms (sleeps 8 - 10) and 1 ½ baths and is ideal for a large family or 2 smaller families. Each of the 3 upstairs bedrooms has 2 twins that can be used as is, or made into a king. One of the rooms also has a full sized futon. The downstairs bedroom has a full sized bed. The house offers a small kitchen, with refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, electric range, microwave, & dishwasher, a large dining room, and large family room with TV & WIFI. The driveway provides parking for up to 4 cars.
In the backyard there is a small deck with picnic table & chairs and a charcoal grill, which is great for rinsing off, hanging out, or having an outdoor dinner. As well, the house has a large garage stocked with all types of beach toys, rafts, & a surf board. There are beach chairs as well, but we recommend bringing your own since we cannot guarantee their condition.
Just over 100 steps on a quiet street from the front door is the best clean and sandy beach. There are no long walks to the water’s edge on this part of the island and lifeguards are conveniently set up by the 27th St. beach entrance. The beach house comes with 6 beach badges (Beach badges are not required for children under 12 years old) Enjoy sunbathing, surfing, fishing, shelling and relaxing.
Ship Bottom & the area
Long Beach Island was ranked as one of the top five Family Beaches in the USA by National Geographic Traveler Magazine in 2003. Ship Bottom boasts 1.5 miles of the greatest beaches on Long Beach Island, and is located near the causeway so there’s no waiting in island traffic when you want to get to your beach house.
The house is ideally located walking distance to many excellent restaurants, coffee, ice cream, boat rentals, miniature golf, arcade, marina, crabbing dock and excellent bakeries. It is just a short walk to LBI’s famous Joe Pop’s Shore Bar, as well as Surf Taco, Ship Bottom Shellfish, Bageleddie’s, LBI Pancake House, pizza, surf shop with surf board and bicycle rentals, a park with basketball courts, baseball field and jungle gym for the kids, ATM machine and a liquor store. Everything is within walking distance!
Area attractions include Barnegat Lighthouse and Barnegat Light State Park, Forsythe Wildlife Preserve, Surf light Theater, Viking Village and Museum of NJ Maritime History. Fantasy Island Amusement Park and Thundering Surf Water Park are located just 15 minutes away.
This house is an LBI original and landmark built by my family over 90 years ago and occupied for over 70 years by the original owners; a Naval captain and his artist wife. It has not been refinished, has limited air conditioning & offers the charm & experience of a traditional beach house. My family has enjoyed our beach house for many years and we are confident you will too.
Linens and towels are available but we expect them to be left laundered & folded. There is a nearby laundromat, however we suggest bringing your own to avoid the hassle.
