Weekday evenings from 7pm to 6am, DC Parking Enforcement typically does not ticket in the neighborhood. Friday from 7pm until Monday 6am is a low enforcement time. On the south shoulder of M St (right around the corner of the front door i.e. left out of front door and left at street corner) they typically do not enforce 2 hour parking limits.
This is not necessarily a recommendation but just something I have noticed. It would be try it at your own risk.
