Summary: Had a great week on Lake Tomahawk and enjoyed the surrounding area. House is situated on a nice area of the lake and is easy to access. It appears this house has had one or more additions added onto the original structure. The newer addition is nice yet a little confusing. One example is you have to walk through the upstairs bathroom to get to the stairs that take you to the basement bathroom. If upstairs bathroom is occupied you have to go outside to access a side door which takes you to the basement bathroom. The old part of house needs repairs/improvements. Small compartment where microwave sets the ceiling is coming down and the ceiling is sagging in the hallway that leads to bedrooms and bathroom. Futon in dining/living room needs replaced. It was great the place had a dock, but the dock is also needing repairs. Also the property is suited with a septic tank, not a septic system. In other words when the septic tank is full it has to be pumped out. There is a piece of paper on refrigerator explaining who to call if it gets full, it also states in the instructions that if renter doesnt call to have it pumped out and sewer backs up any clean up expenses would be assessed to the renter. The tank did get full within the first 24hrs we were there do to the use from previous renter. We were thankful someone happened to go down and use the basement bathroom otherwise we would've never heard alarm going off alerting us the tank was full. Once again not what we expected for the price paid!! The house is well equipped with linens, towels and kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pans, plates, cups, bowls etc. Overall a decent place but for the price it needs updates. After intial rental price there are "fees" assessed by vrbo/vacasa that raises overall cost considerably. Great area, beautiful setting , and amazing views of the lake. I hate to be this critical but after fees and taxes this place is quite expensive for what you get. For the charges for a week you would expect a nicer place. I thought the next perspective renter may appreciate an honest review.
