Located in Afton’s Historic Village this unique home is walking distance to all things Afton. Center stage to all of Afton’s wonderful events and a short walk to the beautiful St. Croix River and Afton Marina. Less than 5 miles to Afton Alps downhill skiing, X-country ski trails, state and county parks. This historic brick schoolhouse, built in 1867, was converted into a charming home that sleeps up to 6 guests: one queen bed on main level, two twin beds in upper bedroom, one fold-out couch/futon, and one daybed in main living space. Canine friends are also welcome.
There is a working art studio and boutique in the detached garage right next to the schoolhouse. Feel free to stop by the studio and say hi to the artists or sign up for a class! Behind the studio is an outdoor bar area where guests may feel free to unwind when not in use for events (just BYOB). There is also a small stage in the back yard that hosts singers/songwriters during events from time to time. Afton's Historic Village has unique shops and restaurants offering a range of options: the famous Selma's Ice Cream Parlor, seasonal outdoor cafes, casual saloon atmospheres, Friday music nights, wine tasting, and elegant dining experiences. Afton’s amazing events take place right across the street in Town Square Park! The park is equipped with a gazebo, picnic shelter, picnic tables and outdoor grills, bandshell, a playground, tennis and basketball court, ball field, horseshoe pits, and a seasonal ice rink and warming house. Annual events include Afton's Strawberry Festival (June), Fourth of July parade and celebration, Afton Art in the Park (September), and Holiday in the Village (December). There is also a marina and boat launch right in town and several near by swimming beaches.
