Fantastic lakefront dog and family-friendly home on the 1600-acre Minong Flowage in Northwestern Wisconsin. Beautiful home with open floor plan, family room with vaulted ceiling and windows to the lake, stacked stone gas fireplace, large dining room table that seats 8, and plenty of room to relax. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, Keurig and drip coffee maker, toaster, crock pot, blender, coffee pods/tea/hot chocolate, and spices. Three outdoor areas including a spacious deck, lower level patio, and large fire pit with gorgeous pavers. 263 feet of lakefront footage on a private, quiet, secluded bay.
This home is under new management so we had to start over with reviews, but it was previously a 5-star rental property with 80 reviews We are confident you will love it! We are a premier host with thousands of positive reviews across all of our amazing properties in the Northwoods.
The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 2,220 sq foot living space. The main floor master bedroom has a king bed, and the lower-level walkout provides 2 additional bedrooms: one with a queen bed and one with 2 single beds. There are two bathrooms; one on the main level and one on the lower level. Please note that the main level bathroom has a soaking tub only; there is NOT a shower. The lower level has a walk-in shower. Both bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
You will be surrounded by towering pines for that "Up North" feel, enjoying the waterside view from the deck, lower patio, or fire pit. The home is steps from the water, where you can access the lake, water sports, fishing or just relax. We have 2 kayaks and a paddle boat for your use (including life jackets). There is a hammock in the backyard, Adirondack chairs, a fire pit with several chairs, and yard games.
Access miles of ATV trails nearby, hiking, golf courses, and multiple restaurant/bars. Enjoy canoeing, kayaking, or tubing on the Totagatic and Namekagon rivers. Winter activities include ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on miles of groomed trails.
Please note: The elevation to the lake is a gentle slope. While not super steep, it may not be easily accessible to those with mobility issues, so we want to make people aware.
About the Minong Flowage:
The water in the Minong Flowage is from the Totagatic River and is clean, but the minerals from the River tint the water slightly brown. At its deepest point, the lake is 21 feet. It is a popular fishing lake, and common fish include walleye, northern pike, large mouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, and yellow perch.
We are on a bay, and the area off the dock is shallow but good for swimming for several feet (the bottom turns from sand to mud, so bring water shoes if you want to swim out farther!). The best months to swim are June and July (but there is still no guarantee of "green-free" water); in August, the bay gets green. so if you are hoping to spend a lot of time swimming off the dock, our home may not be the best fit for you. However, there is a nice public beach 4 miles away at Totogatic Park.
Seasons:
During the months of June, July and Aug, this home only accepts full week reservations from Saturday to Saturday. The rest of the year is a 3 night minimum.
A Note About Dogs:
We named our cabin the Lazy Dog Lodge for a reason: we LOVE dogs and we want our guests to enjoy their vacation with the whole family, including the furry members :-) We allow a max of 2 dogs and an additional fee upon prior approval That being said, please be mindful of whether our home is appropriate for your dog(s).
We may not be the vacation rental for you if your dog(s):
*Consider barking to be a favorite pastime;
*Chew things other than bones;
*Like to visit the neighbors unsupervised (we do not have a fenced-in yard), and/or;
*Use the house as a bathroom.
We provide dog beds, bowls, treats, tie-outs, poop bags, a gate, and crates (one large, up to 65 lbs, and one small, up to 25 lbs). We ask that your dogs be supervised when at the cabin and crated when you are not. Also, it should not need to be said (but unfortunately needs to be, as we have had guests leave enough surprises for us), but PLEASE pick up after your dogs!! It is NOT the responsibility of our cleaners.
A Note About Occupancy:
The maximum occupancy at the cabin is 6 people. There are NO exceptions to this. We limit the number of people for a reason: our systems (septic, hot water) cannot accommodate large numbers of people. Please note that if you have more than 6 people you will be charged $100 per extra person, per day OR you will be asked to leave without a refund for the remaining days. Unfortunately we have had multiple guests who have abused this rule and it has caused problems for our systems. If we have reason to suspect there are more than 6 people, our caretaker has the right to stop by and check in. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
