This modern open concept home features vast, spectacular western views over Columbia County. With a fully equipped spacious kitchen, enjoy meals at home then unwind by relaxing on the deck overlooking the mountains. Conveniently located minutes to the culturally rich Berkshires, yet under 30 miles to Albany. Stay close to nature in this wonderful retreat while enjoying it's modern amenities.
The Space:
Built in 2009 by a local contractor and his artist wife this house has it all. The main floor which is accessed by a few exterior stairs near the driveway has an open concept kitchen with marble counters, dining room with seating for 6, a deck with outdoor seating for 6, comfortable living room with smart TV, 3/4 bath and huge bonus room with king bed, seating area, and work area overlooking the mountains.
Two bedrooms, both with views, are downstairs along with a cozy library/office. The primary bath is shared by both bedrooms but there is also a half bath/laundry room off the Library/office. We offer fiber (1gig) internet to make working remotely easy. Parking for plenty of cars in the driveway and a wonderful large yard to run and play.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property.
The Neighborhood:
New Lebanon was the main spiritual home of the Shakers. The Mount Lebanon Shaker Society had 609 members in 1864. The most historic structures now belong to the Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon. Some of the other surviving buildings are home to the Darrow School. Still others have been converted into a Sufi retreat center called the Abode of the Message.
Other Things to Note:
We recommend AWD/4WD in the winter months. In extreme snow / ice it can be hard to back up and out of the driveway. We do have the home professionally plowed and sanded.
Traveling with small children; The interior staircase has one open side into the library which could be dangerous with infants / toddlers. If you have small children, please let us know and we are happy to provide a baby gate for the top of the stairs.
Studio Space/King bedroom is heated by a mini split- the pellet stove is not currently available for guest use. ***Please note this bedroom does not have window coverings on the very small windows in the area leading to the bedroom, or the most upper windows in the room if you are very sensitive to needing complete darkness.
You can hear occasional car noise from Rt. 20. It is not intrusive - but we do want to call it out.
Wood Stove and Pellet stoves are not currently for guest use.
Air Conditioning Notes: This property is partially air conditioned. The Main living areas are not air conditioned, but ceiling fans and portable fans are provided. The Studio Space/King bedroom is equipped with a mini split unit which provide Air conditioning. On the lower level, the primary bedroom has a window air conditioning unit and the second bedroom stays cool with the doors open or portable fans are provided.
